When to use this calculator
Use this calculator whenever a regulatory report, disclosure, or return must be submitted within a fixed window after a reporting period ends, and you need the exact submission deadline plus preparation reminders.
Quarterly regulatory report
Find when a quarterly regulatory filing is due from the quarter end date and the filing window (e.g., 45 days after quarter close).
Annual disclosure filing
Calculate when an annual report or disclosure must be submitted from the fiscal year end date.
Environmental or safety report
Plan a filing deadline for a statutory environmental or occupational safety report from the period end date.
Multi-jurisdiction filing calendar
Compute separate deadlines for the same reporting period when different regulators require different filing windows.
Inputs
Reporting period end date
The last day of the period covered by the filing—a quarter close, fiscal year end, or a specific statement date set by the regulator.
Filing window and unit
How long you have to submit the filing after the reporting period ends, in days, weeks, months, or years, as set by the regulator.
How the calculation works
Enter the date when the reporting period ends—such as a quarter close, year end, or statement date—and the filing window you have to submit. Days and weeks add calendar days; months and years use calendar-month math on the UTC calendar (with end-of-month clamping when needed).
Advance reminder dates are simple calendar lookbacks: 30, 60, and 90 days before the filing deadline. Use them to prepare data, review drafts, or obtain sign-off well before the submission date.
This tool does not model regulatory extensions, filing fee schedules, or jurisdiction-specific grace periods. Confirm the actual deadline with the relevant regulatory body or a compliance professional.
Worked example
Reporting period end date: 31 March 2025 (quarter close). Filing window: 45 days.
Filing deadline: 15 May 2025.
Advance reminder: 15 April 2025 (30 days before)—a reasonable point to have data compiled and ready for internal review before the 15 May submission date.
For an annual filing with the same 45-day window from a 31 December year end instead, the deadline would fall on 14 February of the following year.
Edge cases
Different windows for different filing types
The same reporting period can trigger multiple filings with different windows—for example, a preliminary report due 30 days after period end and a final report due 90 days after. Run the calculator once per filing type.
Filing window stated in business days
This calculator only adds calendar days, weeks, months, or years. If a regulator states the window in business days, use the Add Business Days To Date Calculator instead for an accurate deadline.
Deadline on a weekend or holiday
The computed deadline is not adjusted off weekends or holidays. Some regulators automatically extend a deadline that falls on a non-business day; others do not—confirm the specific rule.
Leap year period ends
A reporting period ending 29 February only occurs in leap years. If your filing cycle is annual and tied to that date, confirm the actual period end used in non-leap years.

The Compliance & Regulatory Deadlines Guide is the primary reference for how compliance, audit, and regulatory filing deadlines are calculated, and which calculator fits each scenario.
The Compliance Deadline Calculator finds when a one-time compliance obligation is due from its trigger date—a regulation effective date, a notice of violation, or a similar event—plus 30-, 60-, and 90-day advance reminders.
The Audit Deadline Calculator finds when an audit must be completed from the end of the audited period, such as a fiscal year end or quarter close, plus the same advance-reminder pattern.
The Regulatory Filing Deadline Calculator finds when a periodic report or disclosure is due from the end of the reporting period it covers.
All three use the same trigger-date-plus-window engine as the Contract End Date, License Renewal, and Certification Renewal calculators in Contracts & Legal.
